Who We Are
ALARA Logistics is a small, privately owned company experiencing a period of both growth and maturity. We are a specialized logistics company headquartered in Houston, TX, with additional offices in Australia and South Korea. We focus on all phases of transportation including high-consequence material, difficult-to-transport cargo, oil-industry projects, and hazardous cargo from conception to production. We have a small team (15-20 people in Houston) of professionals with specialized experience and licenses in the transportation industry, as well as administrative and warehouse staff.

Who You Are

This role is a great fit for someone who has worked in a start-up or other growth environment, or who has experience in a larger company both national and international. You will be honest, accountable, and knowledgeable with the ability to perform in this role with a high level of discretion and professionalism. You will have a strong knowledge with International Logistics with sharp negotiation skills and a strong knowledge of business development.


We offer a casual office environment and offer a hybrid schedule with one work from home day per week after you’ve been acclimated with the company.


Summary
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for leading efforts to establish and retain business growth opportunities. Primarily obtaining new clients and fostering business relationships to increase revenue from sales.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities
  • Maintain current client relationship and identify areas for potential clients.
  • Develop new sales areas and improve sales through various methods.
  • Research the latest in the business industry and creating new opportunities to expand business.
  • Follow up on client leads.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations team to ensure requirements are met, such as sales numbers and profit goals.
  • Strong understanding of company products or services as well as business position and competition to keep business competitive.
  • Develop ways to improve the customer experience and build brand loyalty.
  • Staying up to date on industry trends and competitors.
  • Reviewing timeframes and budgets.
  • Executing sales objectives
  • Attending networking events
  • Negotiating sales contracts, and prepare sales contracts, following company rules and guidelines
  • Building trust and long-term relationships with clients/customers
  • Managing records of sales, revenue, and other important data
  • Writing reports and analyzing relevant business data
  • Determine the reasons for profits and losses.
  • Suggest new projects for the ability to tap into new markets.
Team Building
  • Brainstorming with the management team to create new project strategies.
  • Cultivating positive interactions and relationships with sales representatives, team leaders and managers, and executives to evaluate sales strategy and results.
  • Assessing performance when it comes to growing the business through client acquisition and sales.

Education and Experience
  • International Logistics Industry Knowledge Required
  • Sales experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in customer service, marketing or a sales-related field
  • Strong knowledge of business and sales growth techniques
  • Sharp negotiation and networking skills
